Staunton, Va.’s Greatest Treasure

I watched the Statler Brother’s Farewell Concert on WVPT last night! It was so special! They were excellent!

As I watched and look over the audience, I was reminded of all the Joy and Happiness they have brought to so many people. They gave so much of themselves over the years.

And although, Staunton, Va. has a number of things special about it, The Statler Brothers are our Greatest Treasure! I was fortunate enough to attend the last of their Annual Fourth of July concerts inGypsy Hill Park. The concert was always free as one of their many ways of giving back as a sign of appreciation to their many, many fans!

Harold Reid is the storyteller of the group. A few years back my wife was in downtown Staunton and wanted to stop at the consignment shop. She was having a hard time finding a place to park so she pulled into this reserved parking lot next to shop, parked and ran in for a few minutes. When she came out she saw this man standing by her car. He said you parked in my reserved space. She apologized and said she couldn’t find a spot anywhere else.

Suddenly she said, “You're Him!” She realized it was Harold Reid. I often wonder if Harold ever told the story of the lady who stole his parking space. That would be a true story.

Have a wonderful day!
